Erik looks at Jesus' description of both the Kingdom of God and of our faith as like a mustard seed, to see what we can learn about how God works to rescue his creation, and what part we play in that.

We are invited to be part of Jesus' mission of mercy - his mission to rescue and restore people as well as all of creation. By looking at the life and work of Jesus, Erik explores some aspects of how we become actively invovled.

Instead of being overwhelmed by the many injustices in our world, Erik encourages us to shift our position to look at injustice in relation to Jesus, which changes utterly what we do to bring justice about.

Erik looks at Jesus' metaphor of salt and light, and notices that Jesus says that those who follow him are salt and light, not that they ought to act like that. Using early monastic communities as an inspiration, Erik looks at how we make space for God in the middle of everyday life, and what can happen as a result.

Erik explores forgiveness on a personal and a national scale by looking back at his journey through the dramatic transition of South Africa from a violent and oppressive Apartheid regime to a democratic multi-racial society. Along the way, he discovers how much forgiveness runs counter to conventional wisdom on justice.

Erik reminds us that we are a now and a not yet people. Through Jesus' life, death and resurrection, we already experience now the power of God's kingdom that is yet to come.

Erik talks about why Jesus had to come, and what he achieved for us. Jesus has made it possible for us to stand again before our creator, and to worship him.

Erik points out that the miracles of Jesus recorded in the Bible are signs that point towards the kingdom of God. When we listen to and obey God's voice, and we see our fellow human beings with compassion, and seek to make God's kingdom known, then these signs become possible, if not inevitable.
